Hello from the Meerkat family! This year, instead of the usual whirlwind of Christmas chorescooking, cleaning, and endless washing up we decided to do something different. We packed our bags and headed to the South Lawn Hotel, where we spent three magical nights in their beautiful three-bedroom apartment. Honestly, it felt just like home… only better, because none of us had to lift a finger!
Arriving on Christmas Eve, the excitement was buzzing. The apartment was perfect for us! Three en-suite bedrooms meant everyone had their own space (no queues for the bathroom!) and a cosy lounge where we could flop down together after dinner.
And the heart of it all a spacious kitchen with a big island. That island became our gathering spot. We played games, laughed until our sides hurt, and caught up on all the little things we never seem to have time for during the year.
It was like being at home, but without the stress of cooking the turkey or scrubbing dishes. Mum kept saying, “This is the Christmas I’ve always dreamed of!”
Christmas dinner in the restaurant was nothing short of spectacular. The food was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and there was something for everyone. Dad, who usually spends hours carving the roast at home, simply sat back and enjoyed every bite.
The best part? No one had to argue about who was doing the washing up afterwards. We just strolled back to our apartment, full and happy, ready for another round of board games around the kitchen island.
The highlight of our stay came on Boxing Day evening. The hotel hosted an Elton John Tribute performance, and wow, it was incredible! From “Rocket Man” to “Tiny Dancer,” the music had us all singing along. Even Mum and Dad were clapping and swaying in their seats. It felt like the perfect finale to our Christmas adventure: great food, great company, and entertainment that left us smiling long after the last song.
For us Meerkats, Christmas at South Lawn Hotel was about more than just escaping chores. It was about Togetherness, Comfort & Joy. From the festive meals to the Elton John Tribute, every moment felt celebratory. We left on the morning after Boxing Day with full hearts, already talking about making this a tradition.
Christmas at South Lawn Hotel was everything we love about the season,family, fun, and food without the stress. For the Meerkat family, from me and my husband, my brother and long term girlfriend and of course Mum & Dad, it was truly unforgettable.
